BMW's first Electric 3 Series is made just for China

BMW has created the first electric 3 series car. However, Who will only sell it only in China. The BMW model, based on BMW’s compact cars, will be introduced to the Chinese market. It’s powered by BMW’s 5th-gen eDrive powertrain, also available within BMW iX3, BMW iX3, BMW i4, and BMW iX. The four-door sedan will become the only 3 Series car with the BMW OS8 operating system and features, such as Digital Key, which turns the owner’s smartphone into a key fob for their car.

In the release, BMW also shared some crucial information regarding the EV, including the maximum output of 281 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of max torque. In addition, it’s said to be able to go from 0 to the speed of 62mph in 6.2 seconds. Furthermore, it can charge up to 80 percent in 35 minutes after plugging into it. It is fully charged and offers an estimated range of 327 miles, which is more than the base BMW i4s.

The automaker claims the 3 Series line will lead the premium compact segment in China by 2021, so the release of an electric version in China is a good idea for BMW. BMW even refined and tailored the suspension system to meet Chinese road conditions. BMW plans to build the car at the manufacturing facility in Lydia, Shenyang.

The i3 eDrive35L EV from BMW is the sixth all-electric model. Like other automakers who have set out to achieve the complete transition toward electronic vehicles in the following 10-20 times, BMW also ramped up its goals for electrification this year. BMW announced that the first Mini with combustion engines will launch in 2025. It also stated that it plans for its electric vehicles to comprise 50% of its global sales in 2030.
